Matteo Guidicelli and Avel Bacudio’s collaboration goes beyond business
The duo partners anew to support visually impaired children

The fashion industry is one of the fastest growing markets in the Philippines today. No wonder, a growing number of celebrities have decided to start their own clothing brands, like actor Matteo Guidicelli and designer Avel Bacudio.

It’s only been a few months since they launched their clothing line, appropriately labeled Avel x Matteo Jeans, and they have already launched their first mall-based pop-up store in Uptown Bonifacio in BGC, in partnership with Megaworld Lifestyle Malls.

“We are happy to partner with Megaworld to make AxM available to their mall goers. Our goal is to make our designer jeans accessible and they have enabled us to do that,” renowned fashion designer Avel explains.

Matteo, on the other hand, shares that it’s been his dream to come up with his own line of jeans. “I approached Avel for the collaboration. He understood my vision that’s why we were able to come up with designs that are sexy yet wearable at the same time.” The collab resulted in jeans that are ripped, stretched and lightweight.

A New Advocacy

What’s also admirable about these two is that they have giving hearts and through their clothing line, they’ll be able to pursue a bigger goal ⏤ to help the visually impaired children of Northern Luzon Association for the Blind, Inc. (NLAB) School for the Blind in Baguio. Because for every pair of jeans purchased, a certain percentage goes to the organization to provide free education for the students.

Yun ang pinakamasarap sa friendship namin, nung sinabi ko sa kanya na ‘I have an advocacy,’ hindi siya nagdalawang isip na tulungan (ako). So may puso talaga,” Avel shares. The award-winning designer also revealed during the store launch that he also underwent a retinal detachment surgery when he was a boy. That is why he has a soft spot for visually-impaired children.

“Last year when we conceptualized this, sabi ni Avel, ‘Bro, I want to give to my advocacy.’ When I got to know about it, I said yes right away. The kids are magical, the kids are gifts, and they need support. In a small way we’re trying to support them. And hopefully through social media and other presence we can ask for more support for the kids,” Matteo tells MB Entertainment.

The actor ends the interview with a special message to all of his supporters and fans. “Maraming salamat! I hope you guys will  support the jeans because of the advocacy we’re supporting, that’s also something very special.”
