Ogie Alcasid celebrates showbiz anniversary with a star-studded concert
Special guests include Regine Velasquez, Yeng Constantino, Vice Ganda and more!

Lahat ng pinagdaanan ko sa buhay, doon lumabas sa mga kanta ko. It’s been a great journey for me. Every time I’m asked about my songs makikita nyo naman through the music, through the years, all the songs that I’ve written, there are certain instances in my life, because wala akong sinulat na hindi ko naramdaman,” shares Ogie during his press conference.

The OPM hitmaker is celebrating his career milestone tonight, August 24, with a concert entitled “OA: Ogie Alcasid 30th Anniversary with the ABS-CBN Philharmonic Orchestra,” which will be held at the Araneta Coliseum.

The star-studded celebration will be graced by the biggest names in the music scene, led by his wife, Regine Velasquez. Other guests include Rey Valera, Vice Ganda, Yeng Constantino, and Moira de Torre.

He reveals that he has specifically included Vice Ganda because “Hindi na kasi natin siya nakikitang kumakanta nang seryoso. Lagi na lang siyang nagpapatawa. But deep inside, Vice Ganda is a singer,” declares Ogie.

The 50-year-old singer/composer has been a constant presence not only in the music scene but also in movies and television. Aside from versatility, Ogie credits patience as one of the virtues which helped him stay on.

“I never complain. I’m always early. Kahit anong pagawa sa akin, gagawin ko. I guess sa pakikisama ko sa lahat ng tao mula sa mga direktor, producer sa pelikula, sa musika, sa mga DJ, lahat nang yan naging kaibigan ko sila dahil naging patient ako. Hindi naman ako nagreklamo. ‘Yun lang siguro ang naging sikreto,” he explains.

As an actor, Ogie has portrayed a number of memorable characters. But playing “Angelina,” the rascal kid from the 2009 hit comedy Yaya and Angelina: The Spoiled Brat Movie has been the most remarkable so far.

Unang-una, ang hirap gawin dahil lagi akong nakaluhod. Pangalawa, halos nawala yung boses ko. But it’s also memorable because of my friendship with Bitoy (Michael V),” he explains. “Kasi ‘pag inisip mo ngayon, isang middle-aged man na nagpo-portray ng isang bata parang kabaliwan ’yun di ba? Tapos ginawa ko ’yun.”
