Kapuso star Mike Tan has mixed emotions on becoming a dad

“I am really excited and at the same time it is really scary,” admits soon-to-be dad Mike Tan in an exclusive interview with MB Entertainment.

The 31-year-old actor married his longtime non-showbiz girlfriend in a private ceremony this January.

“I’m going to be a first-time dad and hindi ko pa rin alam kung paano aalagaan ’yung baby so pine-prepare ko ‘yung sarili ko,” admits Mike, adding that he’s also asking friends for advice about parenthood.

But despite his apprehensions, he’s sure that “the key is to be loving and caring all the time doon sa asawa mo and sa magiging baby niyo.”

Doubly Blessed

Mike, who usually does not talk about his private life, granted this interview at the launch of Combi House Manila, where he was introduced as one of the brand ambassadors alongside Isabel Oli.

The usually reticent star also reveals that he and his wife are still not sure of their baby’s gender since the fetus is still quite small when they last went in for a checkup. And though they have no idea what their baby will be, the couple is already thrilled to start shopping. Just to be on the safe side, Mike shares that they went with neutral colors.

Aside from his relatives, Mike’s showbiz family is also celebrating the news of his impending fatherhood. Showbiz friends like Chynna Ortaleza and Yasmien Kurdi have already shared words of support when Mike first made the announcement about the baby.

Mike, who stars in the afternoon drama series Hindi Ko Kayang Iwan Ka, will also celebrate his 15th showbiz anniversary next year.

Counting on his fans who have been by his side for more than 10 years, Mike believes that his new status as a family man will not affect his career.

Ang mga viewers namin ay very open-minded sa pagiging daddy ko. So I don’t think may magbabago sa support.”
