A lot of Filipinos are hopelessly drawn to Korean celebrities, K-dramas, and K-pop groups—and local celebrities are no exception. They can fanboy or fangirl just as hard. Here are some celebrities who were washed away by the hallyu wave.
It’s Showtime host Anne Curtis fangirls unapologetically over K-dramas and K-pop. Like many of us, she goes gaga over Gong Yoo, Song Joong Ki, EXO, and BTS. Anne’s Twitter and Instagram interactions with fans would always touch on the latest Koreanovelas she’s watching, or K-pop she likes. Just ask her husband Erwan Heussaff, who isn’t spared from his wife’s fangirling.
Take a seat for a bit Sen. Kiko Pangilinan. Like Anne, Megastar Sharon Cuneta is a huge Gong Yoo stan and she’s not shy about it. She professes her mad love for Gong Yoo over social media every now and then, and sounds genuinely “kilig” about the Goblin actor. She even took the time to post a birthday shout out for the handsome Korean actor.
Glaiza de Castro
One of local showbiz’s most vocal K-pop fan, Glaiza revealed in 2015 that she’s a huge fan of Big Bang’s T.O.P. and G-Dragon as well as 2NE1’s CL. The GMA star also attended G-Dragon’s solo concert in Korea and visited the set of Coffee Prince as a tribute to actor Gong Yoo and his hit drama.
The young actress previously revealed that she was a Gong Yoo and Jo In sung fan. But Bella is fast becoming an enthusiast of While You Were Sleeping and Something in the Rain star Jung Hae In.
Janice de Belen
The topnotch actress is also a fan. Janice openly shares her K-drama binge-watching, and her love for Lee Min Ho and K-pop group Super Junior.
Way before Pia Wurtzbach was crowned as Miss Universe, fans already know how much of a Super Junior fan she is. This year, she watched the boy band’s Manila tour once more and even got to meet her favorite member Siwon.
